The President’s 14th Annual Art Show is back at Lewis University’s Wadsworth Gallery! There are 65 works of art by 31 students and alumni that are up for view until April 21.

Just taking a short walk around the gallery, I was able to see so many pieces of art that were each entirely different and unique from the next.

There is a very wide variety of colors, images, and styles of art that were submitted. There are oil paintings, watercolor paintings, colored collages, colored pencil work, and so much more to view.

The captivating thing about this art show is that you do not have to be an art major to participate. This Art Show is open to all Lewis students and alumni, though only students can receive a prize.

The President’s Art Show encapsulates the talents of the Lewis University community. There is a unique, beautiful piece of artwork everywhere you look. The art gives you a look inside the artist’s life, personality, and interests, which is something about art that I always find awe-inspiring and interesting.

Just taking a look at the artwork of the 11 winners demonstrates the amazing variety this show has. Each winning art piece uses a different medium: ink on paper, plaster and felt, acrylic and marker, soft pastels, and more.

The President’s 14th Annual Art Show is hosted by the Department of Art and Design and is sponsored by Dr. David Livingston, President of Lewis University, who generously donates $1000. Students and alumni can submit artwork, and Professor of Art, Mark Swain, judges the pieces submitted.

The reception and awards for the art show is on April 7 at 7 p.m., and the gallery talk as part of the Celebration of Scholarship is on April 21.
